A Weekly Legislative Update From CUNA

The House and Senate This Week (01/28/2013)

The Members of the House of Representatives are back in their districts this week on a district work period, but the United States Senate is in Washington.  The Senate returns today and will consider H.R. 152, the Superstorm Sandy Disaster Relief Appropriations Act.  Later this week, the Senate is expected to vote on the nomination of John Kerry to be Secretary of State and begin consideration of debt ceiling legislation approved last week by the House of Representatives.

We do not expect any hearings relevant to credit unions to take place this week.  Media reports late last week suggested that the Senate Banking Committee would hold its organizational meeting on February 14 and also conduct an oversight hearing on the implementation of the Dodd-Frank Act on the same day.  However, the Banking Committee has not released an official schedule.  As we get more information, we will be keep you updated.

Finally, GAC briefing materials are expected to be available next Monday.
